The Department of Chemistry Welcomes Professor Kevin Carter-Fenk

The Department of Chemistry is happy to welcome Kevin Carter-Fenk as an assistant professor in this upcoming academic year. Prof. Carter-Fenk is a two-time graduate of The Ohio State University, earning a B.S. in chemistry in 2015 and a Ph.D. under the guidance of Prof. John Herbert in 2021. After earning their Ph.D., Prof. Carter-Fenk joined Prof. Martin Head-Gordon’s group at the University of California, Berkeley as a postdoctoral fellow, where they were awarded an NIH F32 National Research Service Award. At Pitt, Prof. Carter-Fenk’s research group will focus on quantum chemistry method development, with a particular emphasis on informing sustainable energy technologies through the study of photochemistry of transition-metal complexes, electrocatalysis, and photochemical dynamics.
