The award funded by the National Science Foundation Division of Chemistry will support research in the Deiters lab aimed at synthesizing light-controlled analogs of the natural product rapamycin. The developed molecules will be applied to the precise optical control of cellular processes, such as protein function and localization.The award funded by the Kaufman Foundation will support research in the Deiters and Tsang labs aimed at applying zebrafish embryos with an expanded genetic code to gain a deeper understanding of the TGF-β pathway.
