On Wednesday April 30th, over 150 young scientists and their teachers from 23 local high schools completed in the 2014 High School Chemistry Olympics. The students carried out laboratory experiments and wrote reprots. The reports were evaluated by University of Pittsburgh Department of Chemistry faculty. Each school could send students to compete in up to 3 categories: one year of chemistry, two years of chemistry, and organic chemistry.

Category I
First Place: South Park High School
Second Place: Peters Township High School
Third Place: Penn-Trafford High School
Fourth Place: Mars Area High School
Fifth Place: Hampton High School
Honorable Mention: Upper St. Clair High School
