Professor W. Seth Horne has received a research project grant from the National Institutes of Health based on a proposal titled "Molecular Mimics of Protein Tertiary Folding from Primary Sequence Information.
The five-year award, funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, will support research in the Horne lab aimed at mimicking the complex folding patterns and functions of natural proteins with designed chemical species. Potential outcomes of the project related to human health include new diagnostic agents for cancer detection and therapeutics active against disease-associated parasites.
