A postdoctoral research position in the area of polymer science is immediately available. The successful candidate will work jointly with Dr. Derek Patton in the School of Polymers at the University of Southern Mississippi and Dr. Kathryn Beers in the Materials Science and Engineering Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The position will be permanently stationed at NIST in Gaithersburg, MD. The project focuses on the development of metrologies to elucidate the structure and interactions of advanced polyolefins at interfaces. The position requires familiarity in synthetic organic chemistry, especially organometallic catalysis and “living” coordinative chain transfer polymerizations. The preparation and characterization of polyolefin samples with well-defined molar mass distributions and copolymer compositions is essential to the project and will require introduction of technical expertise to both research groups. The candidate will have a Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer science and engineering, materials science and engineering, or a related field. Independence, creativity, and good communication skills are essential. The initial appointment is for one year.
Applicants should send a cover letter outlining their qualifications and date of availability, a CV including a list of publications, and the contact information of three references to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include “USM/NIST Postdoctoral Position” in the email subject line. Additionally, applicants must apply online (Job posting number: 0003626) at www.jobs.usm.edu. All offers of employment with The University of Southern Mississippi are contingent on a background check. AA/EOE/ADAI =======================================
